When you are getting in all the vitamins and minerals you need (of course no one food group alone will have you 100% covered) but when you have everything your body needs, you operate at a more optimal level. When you are able to operate your body more efficiently, it only makes sense that you are going to have more energy.
Peruvian superfoods are loaded with antioxidants
As a general statement, Peruvian superfoods having massive amounts of antioxidants in them could be a contributor to why they give people energy. So, antioxidants are actually not directly tied to giving you energy. But many of the foods on the planet that directly give you energy, are chock full of antioxidants. Peruvian superfoods are known for its antioxidant profile.
Antioxidants support in inhibiting the oxidation process in the body. They are substances that act as protective agents. They support in protecting our bodies from free radicals, which can have damaging effects on our tissues and DNA. Free radicals are also known as by-products of the body’s chemical processes. The problem with free radicals is that they attack healthy cells. When this happens it changes their DNA. Any negatives happening with your DNA can take away energy from a person. So getting in antioxidants helps to ensure more protective agents. Peruvian foods like cacao especially may have some modulating effects.
The Flavinoids In Peruvian superfoods
The study just referenced in the last paragraph shows that fruits, vegetables, plant-derived beverages such as green tea, and cacao-based products are the main dietary sources of flavonoids.
Flavonoids have been shown to possess a wide variety of positive effects for the body:
-They scavenge free radicals (DNA protective = helps to preserve energy)
-They encourage autophagy
-They are beneficial for the heart

Another study showed that those who took Vitamin C and Vitamin E regularly were able to hold on to their sharp memory and thinking skills for longer than those who did not. It should be known that those who got their Vitamin C from food did much better.

Maca has also been shown to improve cognitive function- giving people the mental energy that they crave. The 2016 study involving middle-aged mice showed that aging mice experienced less loss of cognitive abilities as they aged when they were administered maca on a daily basis.
The strong adaptogen, Maca, also helps with heart health, And in order to keep up in life- catering to your cardiovascular capacity for endurance is important.
